For twenty-eight days, the red star shone brightly over Houston's cityscape, the crimson herald of the evil that would annihilate the fragile supernatural society that dominated the Bayou City. For while the unawakened slumbered, on the twenty-eighth night the great evil arose and smote them back to the dust of the earth. The supernatural creatures of Houston stood together in that final hour, vampire and werewolf and changeling and awakened mortal alike. Though the fight was hopeless and nearly all perished, those who stood fought the good fight and the antediluvian Set was forever destroyed. Those few who survived fled the city or retreated into hiding as the red star flared and died.
A year has passed. The awakened political landscape of the city is almost unrecognizable from its former, glorious self. Gone are the strong edifices of the Camarilla, the Phoenix Glasswalker Sept and the Anthwellian Freehold. St. Michael's Cathedral stands berefit of its former spiritual power. The cost of victory was the sacrifice of the structures the defenders sought to protect.
