Ricegame: The Dark Gambit is a story-based live action roleplaying game of intrigue, deceit, and corruption featuring normal mortals mixed vampires, werewolves and sorcerers in a dark and horrific version of modern-day Houston inspired by White Wolf's World of Darkness. If you are interested in playing, observing, or in more information, please contact the Storytellers at ricegame@yahoo.com.
Our games begin promptly at 8pm in Sewall Hall Room 309 on the Rice University campus. We have four dates scheduled for our Spring 2001 season: We recommend parking in the visitor spaces in the lot near Sewall Hall by the large open grassy area. about the world of darknessOn the surface, the World of Darkness is not so different from our own. People go to work and pay their taxes. The same newspapers are sold on the street corner, and television is the same vast wasteland. Scratch that surface, however, and you begin to see horrors lurking in every shadow. Violence and despair feed the monsters who prey on society like parasites. Strange, unexplainable events happen with unnerving regularity. Corruption is rampant. The World of Darkness dims the sun and darkens the night. Here, tonight, the monsters are real. White Wolf's World of Darkness is the setting for such popular games as Vampire: the Masquerade and Werewolf: the Apocalypse. The Dark Gambit takes place against this backdrop of supernatural horror. Our vampires, ghouls and werewolves resemble those of White Wolf 'canon,' so players of games like Mind's Eye Theater will be familliar with many of the concepts. However, the World of Darkness is a vast landscape; do not assume that because you know the WoD you know what's going on in The Dark Gambit.
