The Ricegame began in 1992 in a small one-bedroom apartment in the Woodlands, Texas and relocated to Rice University shortly thereafter. The newly-christened Ricegame quickly became one of the best-known live action games in the Houston area. The first Ricegame chronicle City of Deceit ran for seven years until replaced by The Dark Gambit in October 1999. The Ricegame continues to bring quality live action gaming to the Houston area with its STARS rule system and story-based philosophy.

Ryan McMullan and Jonathan Stein are the current Storytellers of The Dark Gambit. They are assisted in their madcap efforts by a strange group of wandering players known only as The Ricegame Narrators. Come to one of the games and they'll introduce themselves to you. That's not as scary as it sounds, honest.
